Standard Industrial Grade Foam:
OSAAP America exclusively uses Zotefoam products because they are the purest polyethylene foams manufactured in the world today.
AZOTE is the group brand name for Zotefoams’ closed cell, cross-linked polyolefin foams… high quality foams from differing base polymers but all manufactured using the same unique nitrogen expansion process route. You can find a more detailed description of our proprietary manufacturing processes here. AZOTE was used formerly as a name for Nitrogen and is still used by French chemists to refer to the element. AZOTE foams derive many of their exceptional properties directly from the use of this inert, tasteless, odourless gas in the manufacturing process.
We use Zotefoams’ Plastazote® family of products. Plastazote foams are engineered to offer superior performance and lighter weight. The absence of any chemical agents in the foam and a consistency of cell structure and density allows Zotefoams to offer the world’s lightest cross-linked foams. The lack of any chemical agents allows Plastazote to withstand destructive materials such at Skydrol which is used throughout the aerospace industry.
Our standard foam for Industrial applications is Zotefoam LD45 which is a closed cell/cross linked polyethylene foam. We stock material with a 3mm to 5mm black top layer and a colored bottom layer: Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, and Grey. These combinations are stocked in 30mm, 60mm and , 90mm thick. We stive for 48 hr. shipments, after design approval, when customers use our standard industrial grade foam.
Zotefoam is closed cell and cross linked polyethylene foam: This means the material does not absorb moisture and can be cleaned in a part cleaner or with aggressive solvents.

Clean Room Compatibility:
Plastazote is completely inert and FOD free when manufactured. It is our handling that contaminates the foam and Milling that generates FOD. When cleaned correctly the material can meet many clean room specifications.
Chemistries tested successfully:
Customers often ask if Plastazote can be cleaned with Chemistry or if it can hold up to specific aggressive materials. As customers provide us with testing results with different products we will post them here.
- Acetone:We tested Acetone on our foam in our shop. See the results of our test in the FAQ post.
- Skydrol: A major Aerospace manufacture tested our foam for 24 hours soaked in Skydrol and the material had no visible effect.
All of our materials can be purchased in sheet form for you to use in your own manufacturing process or milled to your specification using our proprietary process.
